Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between wire rod and rebar?
Both are long products, but wire rod ships in coil and is a feedstock rather than a finished item: it is drawn down into wire, headed into fasteners or welded into mesh. Rebar ships in straight lengths and goes into concrete as it is.
Which grade suits cold heading?
Low-carbon grades in the 1006 to 1010 range, where low carbon and controlled residuals allow deformation without cracking. For higher-strength fasteners, 1018 and above are used, but drawability falls as carbon rises — specify the end application and we will match the grade to it.
How is surface quality controlled?
Scale, decarburisation and surface defects govern drawability more than chemistry does. Mill certificates cover chemistry and mechanicals; where the buyer draws to fine gauges we can arrange surface and coil-condition inspection before shipment, since defects that pass unnoticed cost far more at the drawing bench.
